In these Terms, ForgeWorks, we, us, and our mean the operator of the ForgeWorks website and provider of ScanForge.
Effective June 27, 2026
These Terms govern the ForgeWorks website and your use of ScanForge for Mac when it is offered or acquired through an authorized channel. They explain the app license, permitted use, user files, App Store purchases, redistribution limits, support, disclaimers, and other legal conditions.
This summary is here to make the Terms easier to understand, but the detailed sections below control if anything is unclear or inconsistent.
These Terms apply to your access to and use of ForgeWorks websites, ScanForge for Mac, ScanForge documentation, support materials, downloadable materials, updates, and related services provided by ForgeWorks.
In these Terms, ForgeWorks, we, us, and our mean the operator of the ForgeWorks website and provider of ScanForge.
You means the person using the website or app. If you use ScanForge on behalf of a company, organization, office, client, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that use.
ScanForge means the ForgeWorks macOS app for processing folders of document photos into cleaner image files, matching OCR text sidecars when Image Files export and OCR Text are enabled, one combined PDF, and processing logs.
Website means forgeworksapps.com and the public pages, support pages, policy pages, machine-readable app summaries, assets, and documentation made available through that domain.
By downloading, installing, opening, accessing, or using ScanForge or the ForgeWorks website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.
If you obtain ScanForge through the Mac App Store, your purchase, download, installation, updates, family sharing, device access, refunds, taxes, and Apple Account activity are handled by Apple under Apple's applicable App Store, Apple Media Services, and usage rules.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and any applicable purchase-channel rules, ForgeWorks grants you a limited, personal or internal-business, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use ScanForge on supported Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store or other authorized distribution channel.
You may use ScanForge to process your own documents, your organization's documents, or documents you are authorized to process for clients, customers, projects, archives, records, design work, field work, or personal use.
You may use ScanForge for normal internal professional or business workflows, provided the app is acquired and used in a way permitted by the applicable purchase channel and these Terms.
ScanForge requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. ForgeWorks may change system requirements for future versions as Apple platforms and app capabilities change.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved by ForgeWorks and its licensors. No ownership interest in ScanForge transfers to you.
You may not redistribute ScanForge or make it available to anyone else except as expressly permitted by Apple App Store family sharing, Apple Business Manager, volume purchase, or another authorized distribution feature that applies to your purchase.
You agree not to misuse ScanForge, the website, ForgeWorks content, or any related materials.
ForgeWorks does not claim ownership of the files you select, the documents shown in those files, or the output generated from those files. You are responsible for your files, your rights to process them, and your review of the results.
Source images, scans, receipts, plans, drawings, forms, archive pages, and other documents you select remain yours or remain controlled by whoever owns them. You must have the rights and permissions needed to process them.
Cleaned images, combined PDFs, OCR text sidecars, JSON logs, CSV logs, and other outputs produced by ScanForge are your files, subject to any rights that already exist in the source material.
ScanForge writes output to the folder you choose. You are responsible for file naming, storage, backups, deletion, retention, confidentiality, access permissions, and sharing after output is created.
Image cleanup, OCR, crop suggestions, file ordering, PDF generation, and logs can be imperfect. You should review outputs before using them for records, client work, compliance, submission, printing, archiving, or decisions.
ScanForge is designed to process user-selected files locally on your Mac and not upload them to a ForgeWorks cloud document-processing service.
ForgeWorks may provide updates, bug fixes, compatibility updates, feature changes, documentation changes, or support-material changes. ForgeWorks may also change, suspend, retire, or stop maintaining an app or website feature.
ForgeWorks provides support by email at support@forgeworks.app on a reasonable-efforts basis. Support availability, response time, and the ability to resolve a problem are not guaranteed.
ForgeWorks tries to keep website, support, App Store, and in-app documentation accurate, but documentation may contain mistakes, omissions, outdated information, or descriptions of behavior that changes before release.
Documentation, screenshots, examples, support notes, machine-readable summaries, and App Store materials are provided for general product information and may not describe every edge case or configuration.
If you send ForgeWorks ideas, requests, bug reports, suggestions, workflows, names, copy, feature concepts, or other feedback, you grant ForgeWorks a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use that feedback without restriction or compensation.
ForgeWorks is not required to implement feedback, maintain a requested feature, provide public roadmaps, or credit feedback unless ForgeWorks separately agrees in writing.
Do not send confidential business plans, trade secrets, unpublished product ideas, or sensitive materials unless they are necessary for support and you are comfortable sharing them by email.
ScanForge and the website may rely on Apple frameworks, macOS capabilities, App Store services, open-source components, fonts, build tools, hosting providers, email providers, and other third-party services or materials.
ScanForge is a software utility for document-photo cleanup, OCR sidecar extraction, and file export. It does not provide professional advice, recordkeeping certification, legal review, archival certification, compliance approval, medical advice, financial advice, or guaranteed document accuracy.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanForge, the ForgeWorks website, documentation, support materials, updates, and related services are provided as is and as available, with all faults and without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ForgeWorks will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, lost goodwill, lost data, document loss, output errors, business interruption, procurement of substitute services, or reputational harm arising from or related to ScanForge, the website, support, or these Terms.
You are responsible for your use of ScanForge, the documents you process, and the systems where you store source and output files.
These Terms remain in effect until terminated by you or ForgeWorks. You may stop using ScanForge and the website at any time.
ForgeWorks may update these Terms from time to time as ScanForge, the website, distribution channels, support practices, legal requirements, or future ForgeWorks apps change.
These Terms are intended to apply to the maximum extent permitted by law. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
