Privacy Policy

This policy covers ScanForge for Mac, the ForgeWorks website, and information you choose to send to support. ScanForge processes selected files locally and does not upload them to ForgeWorks for document processing. The website has its own limited behavior, support email contains information you choose to provide, and Apple separately controls App Store accounts, transactions, and related services under its policies.

Documents and images

Stay local

ScanForge processes user-selected files on your Mac and does not upload them to ForgeWorks.

App Store label

Data Not Collected

The app does not collect personal data, usage analytics, diagnostics, identifiers, or user content.

Business model

No ads

ForgeWorks does not use advertising identifiers, ad networks, or third-party tracking SDKs in ScanForge.

Support

Email only

If you contact support@forgeworks.app, ForgeWorks uses what you send only to respond and support the product.

Summary

ForgeWorks keeps ScanForge intentionally private by minimizing the data involved in the product. The app works with files and folders you choose, writes output where you choose, and does not create a ForgeWorks account or send your documents to a ForgeWorks service.

  • ScanForge does not collect personal data from the app.
  • ScanForge does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
  • ScanForge does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or third-party tracking SDKs.
  • ScanForge does not upload your documents, images, output files, or processing logs to ForgeWorks.
  • If you email ForgeWorks for support, the information you choose to send is used to respond to that request.

App Store privacy details

For ScanForge 1.0, the App Store privacy posture is no tracking and no data collected. The App Store Connect answers, the app privacy manifest, the app behavior, and this policy should remain aligned before every release.

  • Tracking: No.
  • Data collected: Data Not Collected.
  • Data linked to you: None.
  • Data used to track you: None.
  • Third-party advertising: No.
  • Analytics SDKs: No.
  • Account required: No.
  • Cloud processing by ForgeWorks: No.

When this must change

If a future version adds accounts, cloud sync, crash reporting, analytics, AI services, support upload, advertising, or any third-party SDK that collects data, ForgeWorks must update this policy and the App Store privacy answers before release.

Apple services

Apple may process information through the App Store, TestFlight, App Store payments, App Analytics, crash reporting, or operating system services. ForgeWorks is not responsible for disclosing data collected by Apple, but any data ForgeWorks itself collects from Apple tools must be reflected here and in App Store Connect.

ScanForge local processing

ScanForge is a local macOS document-photo batch converter. It processes the files you select on your Mac and does not operate a ForgeWorks cloud document-processing service.

  • The app reads image files from folders you choose, such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, or HEIC files.
  • The app writes processed output files, combined PDFs, and optional JSON or CSV logs to the output folder you choose.
  • Original source files are read by ScanForge and are not modified by the app.
  • Document contents, output files, and processing logs remain under your control on your Mac unless you independently choose to share them through other apps or services.
  • ScanForge does not use your files to train AI models and does not send your files to ForgeWorks for AI, OCR, analytics, or review.

ForgeWorks website privacy

The ForgeWorks website is a public marketing, support, and policy site. It does not include user accounts, advertising pixels, analytics scripts, behavioral tracking scripts, or ForgeWorks payment forms.

  • The site may store a local theme preference in your browser if you use the light/dark theme toggle. This preference is stored on your device and is not used to identify you.
  • Like most websites, the infrastructure that serves this site may process standard technical request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and basic diagnostics to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and maintain security.
  • ForgeWorks does not use website request data for cross-site tracking, advertising profiles, or data broker sharing.

Support requests

If you contact ForgeWorks by email, you choose what information to provide. ForgeWorks uses support information to respond, troubleshoot, improve support quality, maintain business records, and satisfy legal obligations.

Information you may provide

Your email address, name if included, message contents, ScanForge version, macOS version, device details, screenshots, logs, sample files, or other context you voluntarily send.

Sensitive documents

You should avoid sending sensitive documents unless they are necessary for support. If you choose to send sample files or screenshots, ForgeWorks uses them only for the support request and will delete them on request unless retention is legally required.

Support providers

Support email is handled by the email services involved in delivering, receiving, storing, and securing the message. Those providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices.

Legal basis where required

Where a legal basis is required, support handling may rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests in supporting and improving the product, consent for information you voluntarily send, or legal obligations.

Purchases and payments

ScanForge is planned as a Mac App Store app. Purchases through the App Store are processed by Apple, not by a ForgeWorks payment form.

  • ForgeWorks does not receive your full payment card number from App Store purchases.
  • Apple may provide ForgeWorks with sales, tax, financial, and transaction reporting needed to operate the business and comply with legal obligations.
  • ScanForge does not require a subscription, account, or in-app purchase to use the core app model described on this website.

Third-party sharing

ForgeWorks does not sell personal data and does not share ScanForge app data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or tracking networks because ScanForge does not collect app data.

  • ForgeWorks may use service providers for website hosting, email, business operations, security, accounting, legal compliance, and customer support.
  • Service providers are expected to process information only for the services they provide to ForgeWorks and to protect it appropriately.
  • ForgeWorks may disclose information if required by law, court order, government request, fraud prevention, security needs, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of ForgeWorks, users, or others.

Retention and deletion

Because ScanForge does not collect app data on ForgeWorks servers, ForgeWorks has no ScanForge document uploads, app usage history, or account records to delete from a ForgeWorks app service.

  • Files, outputs, PDFs, and logs created or used by ScanForge remain on your Mac or in locations you choose. You control deletion of those local files.
  • Support emails and related attachments may be kept as long as needed to respond, maintain support and business records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
  • Website technical logs, if retained by hosting infrastructure, are kept for operational, security, and diagnostics purposes according to the relevant provider settings.
  • You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing support@forgeworks.app. ForgeWorks will honor deletion requests unless retention is required or permitted by law.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

  • To make a privacy request, email support@forgeworks.app and describe the request.
  • Because ScanForge does not create accounts or collect in-app data, most privacy requests will relate to support correspondence or website technical records.
  • ForgeWorks does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • ForgeWorks does not knowingly use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics or build advertising profiles.

Children

ForgeWorks apps and websites are not directed to children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in a user's jurisdiction. ScanForge is a general productivity utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

  • If you believe a child provided personal information to ForgeWorks through support email, contact support@forgeworks.app.
  • If ForgeWorks learns that it has collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, ForgeWorks will take reasonable steps to delete it.

International users

ForgeWorks is reachable from different countries. Support email, website request data, and business records may be processed in the United States or other countries where ForgeWorks or its service providers operate.

  • Data protection laws may differ between countries.
  • When ForgeWorks uses service providers, it expects them to protect information in a manner appropriate to the service and applicable law.
  • If future ForgeWorks apps launch in additional regions with app-specific legal requirements, this policy will be updated before those claims are used for that app.

Security

ForgeWorks uses data minimization as the primary security control for ScanForge: the app avoids accounts, cloud document upload, analytics SDKs, and advertising SDKs.

  • Your local files remain your responsibility. Use macOS account security, disk encryption, backups, and file permissions appropriate for your documents.
  • Support email depends on the security of the email services involved and the contents you choose to send.
  • No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but ForgeWorks aims to keep the amount of personal information involved as small as practical.

Future ForgeWorks apps

This policy can cover multiple ForgeWorks products, but each launched app needs app-specific privacy details that match how that app actually works.

  • Future apps will not inherit ScanForge-specific claims unless those claims are true for the future app.
  • If a future app collects data, uses cloud processing, creates accounts, includes analytics, or uses third-party SDKs, that app will need its own accurate privacy section and App Store privacy answers.
  • If a future app changes how it handles data, ForgeWorks will update this policy and relevant App Store information before or alongside the release.

Policy updates

ForgeWorks may update this policy as the website, ScanForge, future apps, legal requirements, or App Store privacy details change.

  • The effective date at the top of this page shows when this policy version became effective.
  • Material changes will be reflected on this page.
  • You should review this policy when installing updates or before sending support information.
